As conflict is going on between Russia and Ukraine, and as a result, Russia has been removed from the FIFA World Cup 2022, the tournament’s location is in Qatar from November 21, 2022. Recently some countries like Poland Sweden have refused to play against Russia.

FIFA declared in a joint statement with UEFA.

The men’s team had been due to play in qualifying play-offs in March for the World Cup in Qatar in 2023, while its women’s side had qualified for the European Championship in England, to be held in July.

The announcement of the UEFA also impacts the Russian clubs involved in European competitions.

UEFA and FIFA have decided jointly that all Russian teams, including national representatives teams and club teams, have been suspended from participating in FIFA and UEFA competitions until they issue a further notice, said Football global and European governing bodies.

Russia was all ready to play Poland in a World Cup, and they qualified for the semi-final on March 24 and could have gone on to face Sweden or the Czech Republic on March 29 for a place at finals.

But as per their three potential opponents, they insisted that they would boycott the marches.

However, FIFA declared on Sunday that the Russian team could play if they wanted to. Still, they have to play it with the name of the Football Union of Russia, playing home games on neutral territory and behind the closed doors, and with the Russian flag and anthem banned.

However, those measures were dismissed as they are totally unacceptable by Polish FA President Cezary Kulesza.

FIFA changed their approach on Monday and kicked out Russia from the race of sports.

According to the statement, Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all those who were affected by the Ukraine war.
