Cairo: As per sources that reported that Kuwait blocked 139 total websites last year in 2021 because the websites violated basic rules and public morals or were involved in fraudulent practices, as stated by the official figures.
Reposts also stated that some of the blocked sites also violated property rights privacy rules, or some were involved in phishing. Out of the total 139 sites, 80 were blocked in July, August, and September.
The information figures obtained from the Kuwait Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority indicated that the government agency, meanwhile, removed 21 other websites in 2021.
Around 58 percent of blocking or allowing access to the once-blocked sites happened over the period from July to late September.
The administration issued 323 requests and decided to block or unblock websites, according to sources. At the same time, 139 existing websites were blocked during the year, and it also received requests to lift the block on 23 websites and has effectively raised the ban on 21 websites.
