Cairo: Kuwait decides to set up a platform in order to address cases of illegal foreign residents in the country, as per the reports of local media.
The agency was agreed upon at a conference which was held earlier this week, and that conference was attended by ministers of the interior and justice as well as senior workforce officials in order to discuss the issue of illegal workers in the private sector and upgrade work quality, reports stated.
“The green light was given so that they can start the platform in order to tackle the status of illegal residents working in the private sector, said sources.
The targeted categories will include illegals whose employers are unable to have their residency permits renewed, those whose employers have closed their enterprises and other segments that will be specified after a related study is finalized, the sources added.
The platform is going to deal with everyone whose status is eligible for readjustment according to laws in force, they stated.
However, there is no date given for the platform to go operational.
