Palestine: Today, Saturday, the Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed that a Palestinian prisoner was martyred in the prisons of the Israeli occupation, while the Palestinian Foreign Ministry called for an international investigation into the circumstances of his death.
The club said in a press statement that the 40-year-old prisoner, Musa Abu Mahamid, from Bethlehem, was martyred in Assaf Harofeh Hospital in the occupied territories in 1948.
He pointed out that the occupation arrested Abu Mahamid in the background of his entry to work in the occupied city (Jerusalem) without a permit, and his health condition deteriorated significantly recently, and he was transferred to the hospital until he was martyred this morning.
The club quoted his family that their son was suffering from health problems before his arrest, stressing that what Abu Mahamid was subjected to is a crime in addition to the crimes of continuous occupation, including the crime of deliberate medical negligence.
He pointed out that targeting Palestinians under the pretext of entering the occupied Palestinian territories has escalated since the beginning of this year, not only through arrests but also through shooting at them. For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called for the opening of an international investigation into the circumstances of the martyrdom of the prisoner Abu Mahamid, holding the occupation authorities fully responsible for his death as a result of medical negligence.
“The policy of medical negligence pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities against the prisoners is part of the violations and crimes of the occupation against our people,” she said in a press statement.
The ministry called on “the international community, the International Red Cross, and all relevant UN institutions, organizations and councils, including the Security Council and the Human Rights Council, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities towards what our prisoners are subjected to in the occupation prisons.”
