The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Terrance Drew invited the general public to the dedicated radio show-“Issues SKN”. The Dedicated radio show will be broadcasted on the 27th of October, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The show will be focused on the issues of freedom in the St Kitts and Nevis.
This special and dedicated issue will be being hosted by the FM 106.5 radio station. The various issues on the freedom will be discussed. As a wider concept, freedom includes many different types of freedom. These different types include freedom of speech, expression, trade, profession, religion, etc.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the Constitution provides the guarantee of free expression, which is widely respected. The freedom to exercise and profess the religion of own choice is also recognised in the country. Another important freedom is to organise political parties, civic organisations, labour unions, etc.
As per the other provision of the constitution, the judiciary of the country is totally independent, which ensures the freedom of free and fair trial of the accused. The opposition political parties are also allowed to criticise the government openly, which reflects the right recognition of freedom of expression.
Although freedom is widely accepted, there are some areas that need special attention, and these areas of attention will be thoroughly discussed in this radio show.
The discussion on the show will also cover the different strategies that can be implemented to ensure the protection of the freedom of citizens. It is also worth mentioning that the freedom of citizens is a basic necessity for the full-fledged development of society.
One of the important issues that need discussion includes the violence against women. The country also enacted the Domestic Violence Act in the year 2000. This law was enacted to protect the freedom of woman with regard to their right to life without any pressure or violence.
