According to the report, a substantial 45.8 percent of employees in Saudi Arabia logged more than 40 hours of work per week in the year 2023.

The demands of the job market, coupled with the ambitious goals of Vision 2030, may contribute to the prevalence of extended working hours.

However, the study also highlights positive aspects of the work environment in the Kingdom. Approximately 46.6 per cent of the workforce, precisely 46.6 per cent, has received training on health and safety procedures.

Moreover, nearly half of the workforce, accounting for 48.7 per cent, has the advantage of a dedicated health and safety department.

The report delves into healthcare coverage, revealing that an impressive 89.7 per cent of employees in the Kingdom have access to primary healthcare.

While this is a positive sign, the document notes that ‘work-related stress’ was reported as the most prevalent work-related health issue in the past 12 months, affecting 3.2 per cent of the workforce.

This highlights an area where further attention and support may be needed to address the mental health aspects of the work environment.

In contrast, most of the labour force, standing at 83.5 per cent, reported not suffering from work-related health issues.

This indicates a generally healthy working population, with the majority navigating their professional responsibilities without significantly adverse effects on their well-being.

The gender dynamics in the workforce also come to light in the report, showcasing a nuanced picture. Male employees in Saudi Arabia worked an average of 8.1 hours daily in 2023.

In contrast, female workers logged slightly fewer hours, averaging eight hours daily.
