St. Kitts and Nevis has claimed the first position in the 2024 Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Index. The twin island has scored 76 points and secured the position.
It is prestigious for St. Kitts and Nevis to be recognised as a global leader in the CBI Industry. It is a great honour, that marked a steadfast commitment to regulatory excellence, due diligence and the continuous enhancement of CBI programme.
Considering this achievement, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew shared an appreciation post on his official social media handle. He said that when he became the prime minister in 2022, he publicly stated that the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program would be the most challenging issue to address.
It mainly included two key reasons, such as the previous administration mismanaged the program. Secondly, they failed to diversify the economy, by leaving St. Kitts and Nevis with over 70% dependency on Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program.
PM Drew mentioned that in relation to this the question, how do they reform CBI, ensuring good governance and transparency, without losing the program, has emerged.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew stressed upon the requirement of courage, and stated that he was guided by the belief that a principled stance would ultimately yield positive results.
Dr. Drew said that just few days ago, the opposition claimed that CBI was finished a hypocritical statement, considering their policies that put the program of the federation at risk.
He expressed that he feels vindicated, as their reforms, which introduced greater transparency and governance have proved to be the right approach. PM Drew added further to the note on social media that, St. Kitts and Nevis is recognised internationally as number one CBI program, now.
According PM Drew, this is a cause of celebration, and the work must continue. He extended his gratitude to the colleagues of cabinet, the CIU team and all those who are involved in putting their great efforts to make this happen.
