St. Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Tourism – Marsha Henderson announced that St. Kitts and Nevis is about to achieve a historic milestone in its tourism industry. As the 2024-25 cruise season is officially underway, the federation is all set to welcome more than 1 million cruise passengers.
It is a festa that reflects the sustained commitment to growth, innovation and collaboration of the Ministry, within the tourism sector.
It is a remarkable project that signifies a 22% increase in arrivals, as compared to the previous season, and is a testament to the strategic initiatives undertaken by Minister Henderson.
Referring to this, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew posted a note and extended his gratitude towards the SKNLP government and to Tourism Minister – Marsha T. Henderson and her team.
He further added a hashtag to the note highlighting the ‘work over talk.’ The gratitude note was posted in order to acknowledge Marsha Hender and her team, who is working dedicatedly towards receiving the 1 million cruise passengers.
From their arrival to departure, including their entertainment, meals and stay, the ministry has arranged everything and is geared up to invite them at the island.
PM Drew noted that under the leadership of Minister Henderson, the Tourism Ministry has advanced numerous initiatives to make St. Kitts a primary Caribbean destination, and now it is renowned for its cultural authenticity, for welcoming hospitality and commitment towards sustainability.
According to the Federation, the increased projection is the result of concerted efforts, that aim to enhance St. Kitts’ cruise infrastructure, diversify tourism offerings along with fostering stronger partnerships with global cruise operators.
Minister Henderson said that this is an exciting milestone for them and underscores the effectiveness of the long-term strategies to make St. Kitts a must visit destination in the Caribbean.
She expressed further that their goal is to increase the number of arrivals and ensure that every visitor has a unique and enriching experience. The project will also generate meaningful economic benefits for the communities.
Marsha Henderson added that the tourism sector is on an upward trajectory, and she is immensely proud of the dedication that team has shown and the collaborative efforts of the stakeholders.
Moreover, to align with the vision of Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, of creating the nation a sustainable island state. The Tourism Ministry has prioritized measures to ensure that the advantages of tourism extend beyond seasonal highs and reach all corners of the community.
Tourism Minister Henderson also emphasized that the Ministry is actively promoting the sustainable practices across the sector and demonstrated the recent signing of the Glasgow Declaration over Climate Action in Tourism.
The Ministry took this pledge to align with the Sustainable Island State Agenda of the Federation and seeks to reduce carbon footprint of the tourism while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the federation for future generations.
