Dominica observed Grand National Rally on Sunday, June 01, 2025 in celebration of 70 years of Dominica Labour Party (DLP) at Dublanc Playing Field. The movement welcomed the Prime Minister of Barbados – Mia Amor Mottley as a chief guest and noted presence of a huge crowd at the event.
The Grand National Rally began in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and observed the strong show of unity, love, and legacy. Supporters of the Dominica Labour Party arrived at the event with pride and power and enjoyed an electrifying rally of unity, strength and labour energy.
This event marked a great opportunity to show up and stand strong, where everyone joined the rally in red attire to symbolize the labour party. After marking the legacy of commitment, the red rally was rooted completely in stability and was driven by remarks of progress.
The Grand National Rally recorded the all-round remarks from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Tourism Minister Denise Charles, Minister Melissa Skerrit and guest of the event Barbados Prime Minister – Mia Mottley.

Prime Minister of Dominica – Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit emphasised on health and wellness. He highlighted the healthcare facilities provided to the people of Dominica, as promised. He said that the labour party has fulfilled every commitment they made on giving health facilities on CT Scan, MRI facilities, dialysis treatment and also HIV. He mentioned about the Dominica China Friendship Hospital and free services provided to the people of Dominica.
PM Skerrit continued with his address and put light on the 2900 house, provided to the people of Dominica who were in most need. He described the homes as most safe and comfortable built houses by the Dominica Labour Party. He promises to handover house keys to 386 deserving families by the end of year 2025, of the homes that are under construction currently and are capable of fighting hurricanes.
He marked that the labour party holds a great responsibility to provide facilities to the people of Dominica as this is not just a political duty but a biblical responsibility to fulfill this commitment.
PM Skerrit earmarked that DLP has championed environmental sustainability by implementing policies related to protecting forests, marine life and biodiversity. The government has also promoted renewable energy initiatives. He said that they are continuously combatting the climate change and are building climate resilience in order to safeguard the future of Dominica.
PM Skerrit welcomes Guest Mia Amor Mottley
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Prime Minister of Barbados – Mia Amor Mottley as special guest and quoted that women are taking over in Dominica and today the first female Prime Minister of Caribbean is in Dominica at the occasion. He highlighted that men’s bureau exists because women run things in Dominica.
Barbados PM Mia Mottley said that life does not stop at 70. She praised the Dominica Labour Party for coming this far as the world was very different 25 years ago when it was established.
She considered Dominica as the most developed nation of Caribbean as Dominica has remained on frontline of climate crisis and no one can question you about the authenticity of the climate crisis. She said that together they are correcting the political injustices done in Caribbean history. She further acknowledged Dominica federation for making every facility available for its people living there.
Mia Amor Mottley concluded by urging the Caribbean nations to work together and stand strong together as only then they can achieve their objectives and can make Caribbean a better place to live in future.
Every leader came up on stage and presented their happiness in praise of commemorating 70th year of Dominica Labour Party. DLP is the currently ruling in Dominica led by the Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
