Eight people were killed, and 21 were disabled in a sudden stop accident in Dubai in 2021. According to the police statement, 11 accidents appeared when cars broke or stopped suddenly, giving other drivers on the road little time to react accordingly and causing deaths and injuries.
“Sudden stop on the road and failing to follow the procedure the safety rule caused 11 accidents which took the lives of eight people, and injured 21 and damaged 24 vehicles in 2021,” as per the “Brig Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, who s the director-general of the Dubai Police traffic department.
Officers also fined 11,565 drivers for suddenly stooping on the roads and not following the road protocols.
Each driver had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 and added six traffic points to their license.
Brig Al Mazrouei instructed motorists to maintain their vehicles to avoid breakdowns on busy roads.
If a car stooped suddenly on the road, it’s necessary to use hazard lights so that other road users can use the road safely and move the car to the hard shoulder to control rear-end crashes.
“In the tragic case of an accident happening or the driver not being able to move the vehicle, they suggested to switch hazard lights on, put the warning triangle at an appropriate distance for other vehicles approaching from the back to see, walk to the side of the road and call the police.”
Due to the accidents on the road, the accidents on road cause death rose to 70 in 2021, from 58 the year before.
