Few people are aware of the game “football”, and more irregular people are hardly aware of the Iran-Iraq Fifa 2022 World Cup qualifier played at faraway Tehran. But, as everybody knows that everything is connected to money, thousands place bets on games, And the bookies, operating from Dubai, have hired ‘watchdogs’ from the Dubai city just to keep an eye on these matches.
The betting turnover is measured from the salaries that go up to 40,000 per month, which those hired at different locations get from the Dubai-based operators.
On Friday, police arrested one man from the city. The accused was identified as Hardik Gajjar, a 26-year-old.
Meanwhile, police also booked nine others for illegally running the gambling racket.
The offence was recorded in the Jahangirpura police station after Gajjar was seized from his home. The offensive case was registered under the Prevention of Gambling Act.
The people who were working in this gang were provided mobile phones by their leader; with that mobile, they monitor the online batteling platforms. They keep their eye through their mobile phones and with their multiple IDs.
From that nine people gang, Amit and Santosh Thakkar, are believed to be the gang leaders who head the whole crew while sitting in Dubai.
According to the police officer statement, Amit and Santosh are the head of the gang. They hired multiple people from multiple locations for their games, and people like Gajjar are employed at various locations to watch specific games.
However, Gajjar was hired to keep an eye on the Football and tennis matches. Gajjar was supposed to alert their employees if he caught anyone’s cheating in betting by any member.
He even dropped out his college, and his salary was 37,500 per month. He had two mobile phones through which he kept his eye on all the betting online platforms. He used to log in through multiple IDs, which was provided to him by the gang.
According to Gajjar statement to Police, Amit and Alpesh Prajapati are the other two gang members from Gujrat who also performed similar duties. The accused accept bets in cricket and kabaddi.
Moreover, police are still investigating the other crew members of the gang, and attempts are being made to capture them, said the Police officer.
