Abu Dhabi: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, the Committee for the Management of Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programmes in Abu Dhabi announced the launch of the first session of the Liwa Dates Festival and Auction, during the period from 15 to 24 October in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region.
The festival comes within the framework of the heritage and agricultural events and activities that are held on the country’s land in general and the Al Dhafra region in particular, with the aim of highlighting the Emirati heritage, supporting all local products and enhancing the country’s food security system.
The festival is a platform specialized in marketing and selling local and international dates and their products, as well as exchanging experiences between farmers from all over the world on modern farming methods and how to take care of the palm tree.
The Liwa Dates Festival and Auction embodies the strategy of the Cultural and Heritage Programmes and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, whose programmes, festivals and events are inspired by the thought of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
