DMCC, the world’s leading free zone and authority of the Government of Dubai for trade in goods and projects, and the master developer of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers community has announced a set of sustainability projects aimed at accelerating efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers community, in line with Dubai’s strategy Clean Energy 2050 and the Emirate’s 2050 Carbon Neutrality Strategy.
After the project was announced earlier this year, DMCC signed a twenty-year agreement with Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, on the sidelines of its participation in the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). 2022. Under the agreement, canopies equipped with solar panels will be installed in most of the car parks in the JLT area.
With the completion of the project, the JLT area will include one of the largest car parks covered with solar panels in the UAE. The project will also result in a significant reduction in the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s tariff for the region, which will achieve high savings for homeowners, and thus the cost of living in JLT will become lower. For residents and renters.
The signing ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. DMCC will also install solar panels in the DMCC One GLT Tower, the DMCC Tea and Coffee Centre, and the Jewellery & Gamble Building. In addition, the car parks in the JLT area will be equipped with highly efficient lighting and ventilation solutions to reduce energy consumption. DMCC will expand its work with Etihad ESCO by collaborating on additional projects that aim to increase energy and water efficiency by 30% in the entire JLT community.

Sustainability and other areas related to ESG are a primary focus for DMCC. The centre became the first free business zone in the GCC to adhere to the goals of the United Nations Global Compact, which encourages businesses to adopt responsible practices along the entire value chain.
