Roseau, Dominica: The government of Dominica in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing is providing climate resilient homes to 73 deserving families. The Minister of Housing, Melissa Poppone Skerrit has announced that the families will get the keys to new houses in a brief yet significant ceremony next week.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development in the government of dominica announced the next phase of house handovers. She was extremely happy to announce the handover ceremony as the families will celebrate the upcoming festivals in the new homes.
The government has shared the images of the homes that the beneficiaries are getting under the government’s home recovery project. The Skerrit led government has collaborated with the world bank for the rehabilitation of the people of Dominica.
Through this project, the people of the country will be able to upgrade from wooden homes to concrete homes. The government wants to make the festive season special and enjoyable for the people of the country.
The construction and handover of the climate resilient homes in various areas of the commonwealth of Dominica is a part of the reconstruction and rehabilitation effort of the government. The administration conceived this project after the 2017 Hurricane Maria caused serious damage to the infrastructure of Dominica.
After the loss of life and property caused by the Hurricane, the Skerrit led government took up the path of creating climate resilient infrastructure for the people. The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has already allocated housing to many deserving families across various communities.
This round of housing unit handover is more special because of the upcoming Christmas and new year celebrations. The people of Dominica have applauded Minister Melissa Poppone Skerrit and her ministry for their efforts.
