A Palestinian prisoner, Hisham Abu Hawwash, who was on hunger strike for the past 141 days, is finally ready to agree to end his fast after reaching a deal with an Israeli government.
According to his lawyers, Authority is ready to release him next month, and they added that Hawwash, who was in prison without any charge or trial, is an a40-year-old father of five.
He is the latest Palestinian who goes on a hunger strike to oppose being held under “executive detention”, a measure where a prisoner is held indefinitely without any charge.
Administrative prisoners are arrested on behalf of secret evidence, unaware of the charges against them and even they were not allowed to defend themselves in front of the court.
On Tuesday, Abu Hawwash’s lawyer, Jawad Boulos, said, “I agree to end my hunger strike after Israel committed to releasing him on February 26. There were no sudden remarks from the Israeli officials.
Even the Palestinians held the rally across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in favour of Abu Hawwash. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad had also threatened the military they took effort against Israel if he died in custody.

Prisoner groups had alerted that Abu Hawwash faced “imminent danger of death.”
Abu Hawwash is the person who set the latest target of several prisoners who have refused to eat and drink water in recent weeks. Hunger strikers are usually hospitalised for extended periods until the Israeli government agree to release them.
According to some reports, Abu Hawwash was hospitalised last month. In the previous few days, he was in a severe position, he slipped in or out of a coma, and doctor’s said he lost he temporarily lost his eyesight and ability to speak.
According to Nida Ibrahim, “We have many fears over Abu Hawwash’s life, and his missis and counsel were in the hospital with him on January 4 2022.”
His hunger strike was going for the last eight months, and this strike was launched by freed jailer Samer Issawi that ended in 2013.
