The United Arab Emirates has imposed a complete ban upon the use of drones for the period of one month, after the days of Yemen’s Houthi rebels planned and launched a deadly drone and missile attack on Abu Dhabi.

As per the statements released by the officials, “the Minister of Interior is currently planning to impose a complete stoppage at all flying operations for owners, practitioners and enthusiasts of drones, including drones and light sports aircraft.”

While reporting about the ban, the officials added that it would last for the period of up to one month. “Anyone who will be caught while performing these activities during this period of one month or while disregarding the guidelines will be subject to legal liabilities.”

Without disclosing about the information related to the recently happened deadly attack, the ministry officials added that the order was made after the “misuse spotted recently” where users were trying to intrude into the areas or sensitive parts of the region where such activities are completely prohibited.

It further added that, “those who still need to fly drones for work-related things must take permissions from the authorities for the “required exceptions and permits needed.”

Last Monday, Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone and missile attack that has struck oil facilities and the airport in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, which took almost three (3) lives- including two Indian nationals and one Pakistani, wounding six others as well.

The UAE is also a part of a Saudi-led military coalition that supports Yemen’s government against the Iran-supported Houthis.

The Houthis have claimed several responsibilities for the repeated cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia, but the January 17 attack was the first kind of attack acknowledged by the UAE inside its territory and claimed by the Yemeni extremists.

Meanwhile, the cost of Crude has jumped to seven years high due to the attack upon Abu Dhabi, which exploded the fuel tanks near storage facilities of oil giant ADNOC.
