The death of “Omar Asad”, who was 78-year-old was a Palestinian man, had flashed calls for research from the US State Department and members of Congress.

According to the Israeli army, it is to strip two officers of their commands and reprimand an elderly Palestinian man following a third death during his arrest and assault by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank.

Moreover, the Palestinian Authority openly accepted the investigation into the possibilities surrounding the death last month of 78-year-old Omar Abdulmajeed Assad– who had a US passport- but called on Israel on Tuesday to investigate all Palestinian deaths at Israeli troops’ hands, not just those involving US passport holders.

US State Department called the sudden investigation regarding Asad’s death and from members of Congress from Wisconsin, where he spent many good days of his life, reported by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

As per the Israeli army, Assad’s death happened late at night in the village of Jiljilya on the outskirts of Ramallah on January 12 as a result of “moral failure and poor decision making”.

They added that they had no identification and refused to cooperate” when corps stopped him. Soldiers forcefully tied his hands, gagged him, and took him into the nearest building, and three others detainees were also with him.

When troops were releasing those detainees, they thought Asad was sleeping, so they left him there.

As per the post-mortem reports, he died due to the silent heart attack due to stress-induced and heart attack caused by Israeli soldiers’ circumstances of his detention.

According to Armed force chief of staff Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, “Leaving Asad alone and thinking that he is sleeping and not checking him is a carelessness act that is done by troops of the Israel Defence Force, at the centre of which is the requirement to protect the sanctity of any human life.”
