Cairo: According to Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), tea sachets in the kingdom are safe for consumption, do not harm health, and cause any effects or problems when boiled.

The SFDA comment came after some reports circulated claiming that metal stapled sachets with metal staples cause health problems when exposed to high temperatures during boiling.

According to the SFDA, the sachets meet standard specifications, ensuring their safety for consumption. They further added that the use of metal staples is allowed in line with a Gulf technical code.

Furthermore, they stated that “All input material which is going to used in the manufacturing of sachets conform to related specifications in a way that ensures the sachet components do not transfer, under ordinary circumstances of those expected at 100 degrees Celsius, to the nutrient ingredients.”

Saudi Arabia ranked among top tea consumers in the Arab region with around 1.2kg per person annually in 2020.

Making of Tea:

However, as per reports, there are many side effects of drinking tea, in which they also explained the making of tea “Black tea is made from the fermented leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. These dried leaves and leaf buds are also used to make green and oolong teas.”

Caffeine, which affects thinking and alertness, is found in 2% to 4% of black tea. It also carries antioxidants and other compounds that may aid in protecting the heart and blood vessels. It has different properties than green tea, which is made from the same plant’s fresh leaves.

People drink black tea to improve their mental alertness. It is also used to treat headaches, low and high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, depression, dementia, stroke, and a variety of other conditions, but there is little scientific evidence to back up many of these claims.

Don’t mix up black tea with other caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, oolong tea, and green tea. These are not the same thing.
