Diabetes has become biggest threat to public health worldwide, says Supreme Council of Health

The conclusion of a challenge competition Walking in its third edition, in the presence of Dr Jalila Bint, Mr Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, Chief Executive of Government Hospitals Dr Ahmed Al-Ansari, Hon. Prof. Samir Atoum President of Royal College of Surgeons Ireland – Bahrain Medical University, Assistant Attorney General Health, Vice President of Bahrain Diabetes Association Dr M Reem Al-Hajri, and a number of officials and concerned persons, in the Dana Hall in the Gulf Hotel.

His Excellency Doctor Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health, opened the ceremony with a word during which he confirmed that obesity is one of the causes of type two Diabetes, which is currently considered one of the most important chronic diseases of the era that infects all Categories of society.

The signs of Diabetes are on the rise, and leave no home or family in Bahrain without Diabetes; most of them are obese and short of mobility.

 

Diabetes is the greatest threat to public health worldwide; the Supreme Council for Health pointed out that one of the most important causes of Diabetes spread especially type 2, is unhealthy lifestyles, helping that Diabetes is a threat Kingdom of Bahrain as it is a burden Health, social and economical for the whole society is a government and a people.

While explaining that from this very beginning, the Bahraini Diabetes Association has adopted many programs and initiatives to prevent and reduce its complications, and the Walk Challenge initiative in its third edition comes as one of its important initiatives Encouraging all injured and healthy people to exercise regularly and make it a lifestyle.
