A microbiologist has revealed the scientific reason that led to the resurgence of polio.
Researcher Nabil Mordad, a specialist in infectious diseases, explained that this comes because many countries have stopped giving the polio vaccine, especially during the period of the closure of Corona (Covid 19) around the world.
Mordad said, according to the Sabq news website, that the other reason is the previous control that led to the belief that the virus had disappeared for a period of time.
He emphasized that this belief was misplaced; The virus takes advantage of the lack of immune immunizations against it and returns the ball, taking advantage of the failure to vaccinate the new generation of newborns who are not immune from infection.
He added, “polio can infect adults, especially those who work to care for the injured,” noting the need to intensify vaccination campaigns for those who did not receive any previous dose in their childhood.
