Educational seminar for patients’ families on the occasion of World Day of Elderly

Bahrain: In conjunction with the celebrations of the World Day for the Elderly, the government hospitals that are not subject to health insurance have launched many programs and awareness-raising activities to enhance pathways towards a better culture and cognitive knowledge for community members on various challenges facing the elderly and the disabled When they have been exposed to health or psychological relapses.

These programs, which were held under the auspices of Her Excellency Dr Jalila, daughter of Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, included the organization of an educational seminar for patients residing in Muharraq Special Care Center and Psychiatry Hospital; in the Multipurpose Hall of the Psychiatry Hospital.

The seminar was aimed at providing education and awareness to patients’ families on caring for the elderly and those with concerns from various psychological, social, nursing and rehabilitation aspects that should be treated and to know the support and assistance provided by hospitals and various related governmental bodies.

Dr. Iman Haji opened the seminar with a welcome speech to families, referring to the continued keenness to enhance the quality of health care services in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially to the elderly and private care patients.

The symposium included honouring a number of distinguished families for their role and keenness to cooperate with healthcare providers, the seminar included a lecture on the psychological assessments made by the department of clinical psychology of patients upon hospitalization and how to study their psychological condition S.I.P.

The second lecture, titled Social needs of patients, presented a set of advice and guidance to parents about their social needs during their hospital stay and the importance and how to promote community integration of patients.

From the nursing side, an awareness lecture was presented on the nursing services provided at the Muharaq Center for Private Healthcare and the methodology of its delivery in integration with various health and qualification specialities.

The fourth lecture focused on the role of qualifying services in a patient’s leave payment and discussed with parents the temporary leave program, which aims to integrate the patient community between his family and his preparation for advanced stages of social integration and job independence Y.
