Finland received the award as the world’s happiest country, and they are receiving this award for the fifth time in a row in their annual ranking of the world’s happiest countries.
The sponsors of the UN has ranked Bahrain as the happiest country in the whole Gulf region, with the tiny kingdom ranking as the 21st place worldwide; people are also delighted, with the emirates moving up to 24th position.
Afghanistan remained in the last position as the unhappiest country at the other end of the spectrum, followed by nearby Lebanon.
The most delinquent rankings were collected before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“The World Happiness Report 2022 reveals a ray of light amid darkness… “As we fight the ills of disease and war, it is critical to remember the universal desire for happiness and the ability of individuals to rally to each other’s support in times of great need,” the report states.
Nordic nations once again defeated the top spots — with Denmark in second place and Iceland in third.

The report has been running for ten years and uses global survey data as well as economic and social data from more than 150 countries to report on people’s assessment of their own happiness.
They got scores on a scale of zero to 10, and their findings are based on data they gathered over three years.
As per the reports of this year, which indicates that people in every global region were giving more to others by means of donations, volunteering as well as helping strangers compared to previous years.
It also found that “life evaluations resume to be strikingly resilient in the face of Covid-19, supported by a 2021 pandemic of benevolence.”
The happiest countries in the GCC
- Bahrain (21st globally)
- UAE (24th globally)
- Saudi Arabia (25th globally)
- Kuwait (50th globally)
However, both Qatar and Omar are absent from this 2022 list.
At the bottom of the rankings, Afghanistan and Lebanon are Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Botswana.
