Dubai: As per the reports, nearly 14 people are injured due to a massive fire that broke out in the shopping area of Soukh Mubarakiya.
According to Redha Al Salman of Kuwait’s Fire Force, eight fire crews fought to put out a fire that spread through almost 20 shops.
Right now, a massive plume of black smoke is billowing into the skies from the locations where the blazes are raging.
In an initial report, the Kuwaiti Fire Force stated that five brigades “are dealing with the huge fire” at the market.
This is the second time this major fire has been reported in Kuwait within a week. Last week on Monday, one more incident occurred in a new terminal at Kuwait International Airport, and that airport was under construction.
Six firefighting worked hard to put out the blaze in Kuwait City.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately known, and it wasn’t immediately clear if anyone had been injured.
Furthermore, the fire person stated that the fire brigade was alerted to the blaze at 3:30 pm on Thursday. He added that the fire spread fastly because many of the shops were packed with flammable materials.
It is reported that 14 people suffering from minor injuries, including minor burns and cases of smoke inhalation, were reported and were handled promptly by emergency medical teams.
According to Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al Sanad, the emergency medical teams and ambulances moved to the fire site in the first minutes of its outbreak.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al Sabah, came to the site and ordered the opening of an investigation.
According to Mr. Al Salman, firefighters had to deal with crowds at the market while fighting to extinguish the flames. People were told to stay away from the scene, which is still cordoned off.
Souq Mubarakiya is a favorite shopping place for residents and immigrants as they ready themselves for the month of Ramadan, which is due to start on Saturday.
It was the second major fire within a week and the third in a year.
The Shuaiba fire was the third in four months at plants under the control of the Kuwait National Petroleum company.
