Cairo: A court of Bahrain has ruled on the side of a women’s request that her age is going to be reduced by four years, and they can register it in official documents, as per the reports.
According to resources, the ruling was issued by the Major Administrative Court, and it requires government agencies to change the claimant’s age, who is a Bahraini citizen, to 1960 rather than 1956 in official documents.
The woman went to the tribunal after the Minor Civilian Court issued a verdict ordering the age on her birth certificate to be changed to 1960. That court based her ruling on a request from an ad-hoc committee that backed up the claimant’s request after hearing witnesses.
However, she stated that the woman’s modified age was not registered on her ID card.
The Major Court ordered the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports, and Residency Affairs, as well as the Information and eGovernment Authority, to pay for the ruling and register the modification in their official records.
It is still unclear why the woman’s birth date was previously registered as 1956.
