Kuwait City: Kuwait moon-sighting committee announced on Friday that the holy month of the Muslims is going to start formally from Saturday (today) after the arrival of the crescent of the month.
After they had a committee meeting on Friday evening, this speech came by the President of the Judicial Supreme Court Council and the head of the committee, Judge Ahmad Al-Ajeel’.
After seeing the crescent moon on Friday night, Saturday will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan of 144,3, he stated. At the same time, the committee expressed sincere congratulations and greetings to the Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, all residents and ex-pats as well as Arab and Muslim nations on this occasion, he said.
He further wished many happy returns of the Ramadan and prosperity and progress for the dear homeland. Meanwhile, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Promotion Affairs Judge Jamal Al-Jalawi conveyed a sincere greeting to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, all citizens and immigrants, as well as Arab and Muslim nations on this occasion. He prayed to Allah the Almighty to protect the lovely home under the leadership of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Prince Minister, as well as His Highness the Prime Minister.
Many other countries of Gulf countries also confirmed the holy Ramadan from Saturday as the first day, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.
However, some other countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, declared Sunday as the first day of Ramadan.
Morocco will sight the crescent moon for Ramadan on Friday evening. Astronomers, however, expect Sunday to be the first day of Ramadan.
Ramadan is the ninth month in the calendar of Islam. The event is one of the five pillars of Islam.
