Cairo: After doing the investigations for five months, the prosecutors of Kuwait have transferred the high profile case, which is linked to the death of a young Kuwaiti due to a maintenance hole lid, to the court, as per the reports.
This is the case which is related to the last year, October, when the lid had inexplicably flown from its location on a street, hit a car, due to which one motorist of Kuwait lost his life; this incident triggered an outcry in the nation. In response, the administration suspended several road officials from duty pending investigations.
According to the lawyer of the motorist, one official at the Ministry of Public Works has been sent to court on the charges of manslaughter. “But we will request that all the charged blamed for the incident as proven by the Ministry of Public Works’ report be referred too,” lawyer Hura Al Habeeb added in media remarks.
She further said that this would not be going to compensate my clients for the loss they had for their loved ones because of someone’s negligence.
Moreover, it was still unclear how many officials had been involved in the ministry’s report or when the court hearings would start.
The flying lid killed the 19-year-old victim after it had smashed into the front window of his car while driving on the road in Kuwait, local media said at the time.
The road of Kuwait and its land transport authorities are ready to pay penalties only if investigations blame the incident on laxity or wrongdoing of its workers.
According to the angry activists, the incident resulted from road negligence.
