Cairo: As per the local news channel, the Kuwaiti administration is thinking of raising the fees they charge for some services offered by immigrants affairs and traffic sectors.
Contract related to this will be soon presented to Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ahmed Al Nawaf’ to make a decision. Furthermore, Al Anba added, stating what it termed as well an informed security source.
According to the report, they took this initiative because this move comes due to low fees on some services provided by the ministry and offering other services for free.
The agreement does not include specific fee increases, but if the principal is approved, proposals will be made later, he added.
When asked if visit visa fees will be hiked, the source declined to say how much they expect to rise. “This will not be an outlier because numerous countries have already done so,” the insider added. “As a result, it’s quite likely to be used in Kuwait as well,” the insider added.
Foreigners account for nearly 3.5 million of Kuwait’s overall population of around 4.6 million.
Moreover, last month Kuwait health insurance committee set the annual fees for their services, which are mandatory for the service and especially for those who are above 60, in order to reschedule their work permits in the country, at KD500 per person.
Kuwait even allowed immigrants above 60 who hold no university degree to apply for continuing with their work visas according to new rules that have completed a month-long ban on their employment.
The new system binds this category of immigrants to pay an annual fee of KD250 per person and get complete health insurance as a requirement for work visa renewal.
The Higher Committee for Insurance Regulation has established the annual health insurance cost at KD500 per worker, plus 3.5 dinars in organisational fees.
The document makes the holder qualified to get annual medical services costing up to KD10,000, including KD500 for dental care.
