Hyderabad: It has been 105 days since a worker from Telangana died in Saudi Arabia (Middle East), but his body has yet to reach his homeland (Telangana/India). Even as the family of 41 years old ‘Alle Rajender’ of Muthyampet in Jagtial’s Mallapur Mandal is awaiting the arrival of his body, another family is caught in a similar situation.
Two months ago, Srinivas Shivaratri died in Saudi Arabia, but his body has not been seen by his parents yet. The Indian embassy in Riyadh stated it might take another 2-3 weeks for procedures to be completed, and then the embassy will send the body back.
Furthermore, the embassy said that a NOC was issued on May 18. However, there were still local mandatory requirements like the release of the body by police, labour office clearance, embalming of mortal remains by the hospital and cargo booking, which are being completed by the sponsor/employer.
A similar thing happened with the body of Rajendar. The embassy had informed that it had given a NOC on April 4 itself.
According to a Social Worker and representative of Telangana’s JAC, Muralidhar Reddy Gangula’, he was in regular touch with the embassy and followed up on these cases. He has been getting emails about the procedures that were being followed.
Moreover, Srinivas died by suicide allegedly due to instability in his work after he reached Saudi Arabia.
