The General Fire Brigade announced that four of its teams were able to control a fire that broke out in the tent market located in the Rai area today, Tuesday, and the damage was limited to material.
The Department of Public Relations and Media said in a press statement that the Central Operations Department received a notification at dawn today that a fire broke out in the Khiam market, and as a result, firefighting teams were directed from the Shuwaikh Industrial Centers, Ardiya, Al-Shuhada and Salmiya, with the support of Al-Isnad Center.
She added that upon the arrival of the teams, it was found that the area of the fire amounted to 3,000 square meters, and the teams began fighting the fire and encircling it, as it did not extend to the neighbouring plots, indicating that the temporary fire station that was established in the tent market contributed to limiting its spread until the arrival of the main teams.
The administration clarified that the losses were limited to the material only, indicating that the investigation teams began their work to find out the causes and circumstances of the fire.
The control operations were supervised by the Chief of the General Fire Brigade, Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Makrad, the Vice President for the Combat Sector, Major General Jamal Nasser, and the Capital Governorate Fire Director, Colonel Ahmed Hammoud.
