Gaza: The International Islamic Charitable Organization launched an urgent relief campaign to support those affected in the Gaza Strip as a result of the recent Israeli aggression in order to provide for their basic humanitarian needs and alleviate their suffering within the framework of continued solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The Director-General of the Authority, Bader Saud Al-Sumait, said that the Gaza Strip falls within the scope of the Authority’s geographical focus due to the difficult living conditions and conditions of the population of the Strip, which amount to about two million Palestinians, in addition to the repercussions of the repeated attacks on the Strip and the siege that has been going on for 15 years, which has affected all aspects of life.
He added that the Authority is moving in this file, sensing its legitimate and humanitarian responsibility by launching relief campaigns and development, educational and health projects throughout the year to contribute to facing the humanitarian challenges witnessed by the sector.
He pointed out that the current Gaza relief campaign aims to provide the actual needs of food, shelter, medicine and medical supplies in accordance with an integrated humanitarian and development system in cooperation with our partners at home.
On the Authority’s latest projects in Gaza, Al-Sumait said that we had approved scholarships for 1,072 male and female students at Al-Aqsa and Al-Azhar universities, the Islamic University and the Applied University College in the Gaza Strip to help them complete their scientific and academic studies in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions they suffer from.
He pointed out that the Authority is preparing, in a proactive step, for the winter season and what it requires to provide hospitals in the Gaza Strip with energy, fuel, supplies, medical devices and others.
He explained that since the May 2021 aggression on the Gaza Strip, the Authority had implemented 30 social, educational, health and cultural projects, benefiting 720,000 Palestinians, noting that the Authority is in the process of studying some new projects it received from its partners in the Gaza Strip recently.
In terms of shelter, Al-Sumait stated that the Authority had implemented rehabilitation and restoration projects for 517 homes in the Gaza Strip from 2010 until today, in addition to approving two projects to rehabilitate and restore 65 additional homes, including 50 homes in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Program, bringing the total of projects implemented and in progress. Five hundred eighty-two projects are benefiting 3,492 people.
He expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the benefactors who continued their generous support for humanitarian and development projects in Palestine, appreciating their great sympathy for the victims of the aggression in the Gaza Strip and the entire Palestinian territories.
Al-Sumait noted that the emergency campaign for the relief of the people of Gaza is still continuing to work to meet their growing needs and that benefactors can donate through the charity’s website, its headquarters, or its revenue centres located in all governorates of Kuwait.
