Interior Minister inspects firefighting preparations for rainy season

This morning, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled inspected the readiness and preparations of the public fire force for the upcoming rainy season at the support centre in Al-Rai area, in the presence of the Chief of the General Fire Brigade, Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Makrad, and a number of the force's leaders.

This morning, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled inspected the readiness and preparations of the public fire force for the upcoming rainy season at the support centre in Al-Rai area, in the presence of the Chief of the General Fire Brigade, Lieutenant-General Khaled Al-Makrad, and a number of the force’s leaders.

The Minister began the tour by reviewing advanced hydraulic water pumps, which are among the most modern in the world, in addition to electrical and mechanical pumps of all sizes, which are estimated to draw water through, which is approximately 550,000 litres per minute.

He was also briefed on the rest of the mechanisms and equipment of the support centre that deal directly with rescue operations, water withdrawal and opening roads.

He was also briefed on the plans of the force prepared to carry out rescue operations for detained persons and property as a result of torrential rains and floods while activating the role of the major accidents command room, which is equipped with the latest technological devices and means to follow the progress of the movement of dealing with reports and directing teams to get out of accidents with the least possible damage while addressing any repercussions associated with the state of instability in the atmosphere. In coordination with the concerned state authorities, according to the competence of each authority.

Minister Al-Khaled also visited the firefighting workshop where the vehicles are being repaired, where he was briefed on the development that they have reached in the process of repairing and maintaining firefighting vehicles and equipment and manufacturing some of the necessary equipment used by the firefighters. He was also briefed on the process of rehabilitating the old mechanisms that were out of service and bringing them into service again after developing them according to the needs of the firefighters.

During the tour, Al-Khaled listened to an explanation about the decisions taken by the field command in the event of major accidents and emergencies.
