Officer kills two colleagues, wounds another at Bangkok War College

A non-commissioned officer with the rank of "Sergeant Major", who was reported to be mentally ill, killed two of his colleagues and wounded another, at the Military Training Command's Military College, in the Dusit district of Bangkok, on Wednesday morning.

As per today’s Thai media, Wednesday, the Special Operations Police were called to the college at about 8:45 am. Initial reports said one person was shot dead and another wounded.

A spokesperson then stated that the person who fired the shot was a mentally unstable non-commissioned officer and was threatening ten people with death.

Army Deputy Spokesman Colonel Sirichan Nagathong later said that the shooter was a sergeant, Mag Yongyot Mangkornkim, 59, who was an administrative clerk at the war college.

She added that at about 8:45 am, Sergeant Mag Yongjot walked into the administrative office, carrying a pistol and opening fire.

She added that he killed two of his colleagues and wounded another, who were all working as administrative clerks in the same office.

He was immediately arrested by the police, who were waiting outside the Army Training Command Center.
