His Highness expressed his happiness at the level of international and local participation in the People of Determination Expo in its fourth session as a global platform to showcase the finest technologies and rehabilitation programs that are very important for people of determination and to enhance cooperation between countries in order to build a sustainable future that meets their aspirations.
His Highness pointed out that the participation in the “Living Independently” initiative, organized by the Union of Arab Chambers in cooperation with the League of the Arab States and the Bahrain Investment and Technology Promotion Office (UNIDO), is a qualitative addition to this event in terms of providing an opportunity to learn about the capabilities of Arab innovators and how to direct their innovations to serve millions of people. People of determination in the countries of the region, and qualifying them to be part of the business environment and projects that support their orientation towards more self-reliance as successful business owners.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, expressed his happiness to participate in this important Arab international event, which represents a qualitative breakthrough in the interest of persons with disabilities, not only in the Arab countries but in the whole world, extending his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, for his continuous sponsorship of this important international exhibition, during which the “Live independently” initiative will be launched, which represents an important additional step within the framework of the League of Arab States, as part of its efforts to support the implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In this regard, Aboul Gheit praised the close cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers and its initiative as a representative of the private sector to promote decent living independently for this important group through technological programs and distinctive entrepreneurship projects targeting all types of disabilities.
The Secretary-General expressed that the “Living independently” initiative represents an important axis in his initiative to prepare the Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities 2023-2032, which serves this important group in various social, economic and legal fields, consolidating their rights and actively supporting efforts aimed at their full integration in society, as well as the implementation of relevant Arab and international conventions and treaties.
The General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab Chambers of Commerce launched, with the support of the Arab League and in cooperation with UNIDO, the Bahrain branch (the initiative to live independently) and signed a joint cooperation agreement with the management of the International Exhibition of People of Determination, on March 30, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed and His Excellency Ahmed Abu Al-Ghait, with the aim of displaying the innovations of Arab innovators during the exhibition to support technologies that serve people of determination.
The initiative aims to encourage Arab innovators to create advanced systems, programs and technology to serve people with special needs, within a competition subject to high standards, according to which the technology most appropriate to the needs of people of determination is selected and the necessary funding is sought.

From November 15-17, Dubai will witness the launch of the widest and most impressive display of innovative assistive technology products and rehabilitation services, through the Fourth International Expo 2022, which will focus on ensuring access to products and services to enhance the capabilities of people of determination. The exhibition, which is the largest of its kind in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent, will turn into the largest platform for manufacturers and distributors of support products, as well as government agencies, rehabilitation centres, health and educational centres that deal with people of determination.
The exhibition, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Center (Halls 5-6-7), represents the ideal solution to meet the aspirations and expectations of more than 50 million people of determination residing in the Middle East and North Africa.
Nad Al Sheba Public Relations and Organization of Exhibitions Organizing the event expects that the number of companies and centers participating in the exhibition from government and private agencies to 250 exhibitors from 50 countries, and that it will attract more than 10,000 specialized visitors from different countries of the world.

The advanced technologies, numbering more than 4,500 global technologies, serve motor, visual, hearing, intellectual and autistic disabilities, and the autism spectrum, play a crucial role in empowering people with special needs, who constitute between 10-15% of the population of each country.
The World Health Organization estimates the number of this segment at about one billion people around the world at the present time, and it is expected that their number will rise to 2 billion people in the year 2050 as a result of aging, wars, ill health, poverty, lack of services and other reasons.
