Middle East: The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, under the patronage and directiveness of Minister Amr Talaat, has recently updated that Egypt participated in an e-government workshop in the Middle East and North Africa held from 7 to March 8, 2023.

Middle East: The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, under the patronage and directiveness of Minister Amr Talaat, has recently updated that Egypt participated in an e-government workshop in the Middle East and North Africa held from 7 to March 8, 2023.

According to the shared updates, Egypt, a Ministry of Communications and Information Technology representative, participated in the 2023 e-government workshop in the Middle East and North Africa, held in Qatar, from 7 to March 8.

The Qatar Ministry of Communication and Technology organised the event in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. 

In addition, The workshop comes in conjunction with the fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developing Countries being held in Doha, Qatar, from March 5 to 9.

Furthermore, the Senior officials for the digital transformation of governments from about 14 countries from the Gulf Region, Arab Region, Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Europe participated in the workshop.

During the workshop, “The Egyptian experience of digital transformation of the government was reviewed to reach a participatory and sustainable digital government cantered on citizen’s life and increasing the state’s competitiveness to enable the government, citizens and industry to deal with digital, safe, productive and sustainable effectively,” said reports.

Meanwhile, the workshop on the strategic vision and key hubs of digital transformation of the Egyptian government presented the presentation of country’s highlights for developing local and international infrastructure, digital infrastructure and platforms, institutional structure and digital institutional development.

Along with this, the workshop also mentioned other factors in the presentation, such as digital environmental sustainability and digital capacity development for workers and citizens and its builders, as well as the review of the Egypt Center in regional and international transformation indicators Digital for governments.

“Egypt seeks to create a business model within government institutions in ministries, provinces and public bodies using digital transformation, which contributes to the increase of the efficiency and effectiveness of government institutions.” reported updates.

The digital transformation further improves the quality of services provided to citizens, ensures the sustainability of digital transformation businesses and systems, and promotes digital engagement for workers and citizens,” said officials from the MCIT Ministry.

Noteworthy that the workshop saw a review of the digital transformation experiences of the governments of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Republic of Egypt, Morocco, Republic of Tunisia, Palestine and Djibouti.

At the end of the workshop, views were exchanged and discussion on ways to improve the methodology of the United Nations indicators and reports on e-government in the Arab Region, Middle East and North Africa.
