Middle East, Egypt: The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Archaeology for Tourism Affairs for Egypt, Mrs Ghada Shalaby, welcomed with open arms the Ambassador of Australia in Cairo, Axel Wabehorst, on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Both parties came together to discuss a variety of ways to promote and enhance mutual cooperation and association between both nations in the tourism sector.

According to the shared reports, the officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities took to the official social media handle to share the news, as it has been considered an essential step towards a better future of tourism for both nations.

In addition, the reports have further confirmed that the meeting primarily focused on finding innovative ways to enhance tourism cooperation which would benefit both parties. Furthermore, Mrs Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Archaeology, received Ambassador Axel Wabehorst, Ambassador of the State of Australia, in Cairo.

Moreover, during the meeting, it was further conveyed that both countries are working towards finding ways to enhance cooperation to push further tourism movement from Australia to Egypt, in the presence of Advisor Amr Abdullah, General Supervisor of the General Administration for International Relations and Agreements with the Ministry of Tourism and Archaeology.

Additionally, Mr Mohammed, Head of the Central Tourism Offices of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activity, and Elen Schulz, Second Secretary, Australian Embassy.

During the meeting, the tourist movement from Australia to Egyptian tourist destinations was reviewed and worked to revive, especially in light of the increased demand from the Australian market for Egypt, said reports.

As per the sources, the ambassador in Cairo, Wabehorst, also praised Egypt’s tourist destinations and distinctive resorts. He further took it to convey that there are many products and styles that Australian tourists are unaware of and, if promoted in Australia, will encourage more Australian tourists to visit Egypt.

Notably, it was also agreed to work on holding meetings with Egyptian tour organisers and their Australian counterparts over the next few days to exchange views and keep the Australian side up to the latest developments in Egypt’s tourism industry as well as to shed light on the tourist destinations of the Egyptian tourist destination.
