Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: On the auspicious occasion and sidelines of the celebrations of International Labour Day, 2023, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, has addressed the progress of the long-awaited project of Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum to be constructed in the country. 

He visited the construction site with his delegation to lead the ‘Labour Day Parade’ along with the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis across the Constituency of Basseterre.

According to the shared reports, the event was broadcasted live on various official social media channels of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP). In addition, Prime Minister Terrance Drew also shared glimpses of the labour day parade through his official social media handle and expressed his heartiest joy of being a part of the memorable event.

Meanwhile, before the parade, Prime Minister Terrance Drew delivered his opening remarks and recognized the presence of his fellow Ministers and members of SKNLP. He extended greetings to the Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Geoffrey Hanley; Comrade Diana Williams; Minister of Public Infrastructures, Utilities, Transport, and Information, Konris Maynard, along with Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Samal Duggins. 

During the event, he was also accompanied by the members such as Icelene Philip, Joe O’ Clark, members of the union Frank Farol etc. Furthermore, PM Drew addressed the significance of the under-construction project of the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum, which is based on the life journey of Former Prime Minister and national hero of St Kitts and Nevis Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw.

It was reported that the house of the national hero Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw would be turned into a historical museum featuring various items and belongings of the Former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.

While addressing the essential role the museum that it will play in St Kitts and Nevis community, he noted that “Our first national hero should be a symbol for all of us about self-sacrifice, along with the people who visit the nation in terms of nation building with pride and prosperity.”

Prime Minister further extended his remarks and expressed his emotions regarding the project and cited that the government of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party feels tremendous pride that they can accomplish the vision they seek.

“This project is not just about St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party or St Kitts and Nevis Trades and Labour Union, but it is about us as a people and citizens of St Kitts and Nevis,” added the Prime Minister.

The project is anticipated to be completed by September 16, 2023, by setting the construction on pace, noted Prime Minister Terrance Drew. 

Moreover, he also unveiled the illustrated map of the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Museum featuring the plan and blueprint of the building. He expressed that the government of SKNLP seek to open the museum doors to the general public later this year.

After his address, he invited the people of St Kitts and Nevis to join him in the Labour Day Parade in Basseterre and lead the march with his delegation. 

Along with his fellow ministers and members of the SKNLP government, PM Drew marched on the streets of Basseterre, honoring the worker’s class for their hard work and significant role in the growth and development of the country.

During the parade, the country’s citizens joined their Prime Minster in the historical march and celebrated the occasion of International Labour Day, 2023. 

the ministers of SKNLP also addressed the event and the public regarding the efforts done by their government focused on uplifting the nation and providing deserving appreciation to the working population.

They also stated that the labour movement holds great significance in the country regardless of the people but focuses on the betterment of their people. In the end, the citizens of the island country actively participated in the parade and enjoyed the event while celebrating World Labour Day, 2023.
