Egyptian Minister of Environment Dr Yasmin Fouad participated in the opening ceremony of the services of the Scientific Advisory Office for Chemical War Management Today, May 19th, 2023. Minister Fouad extended her greeting to her fellow attendees at the event while delivering her remarks and recognized all the participating members.
The update was shared by the official social media account of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, where Minister Yasmin Fouad stated that “The approval of the “Environment” of the “Scientific Advisory Office” certificate for the management of chemical war is the result of the support of His Excellency President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi for the Environment File.”
During her address, she thanked the leaders of the armed forces, the chemical warfare administration, and the commander-in-chief for their support of the environment file. The existing cooperation between the Ministry and the management of chemical warfare is valued in a number of areas.
In addition, while driving the event, the Minister of the Environment confirmed the work on making a change in the environment profile and the development of this sector since 2018 and working on linking it to the economy and the investment file.
She also referred to the establishment of 4 strategic goals that were not only specifically improving the livelihood of the Egyptian citizen and upgrading services and an integral part of the vision of Egypt 2030.
Furthermore, she also stressed that the Global environmental challenges included these goals focused on reducing pollution, reducing water, soil and air pollution, the municipal solid waste file, as well as rationalizing the use of natural resources and sustainable use and addressing planetary problems.
This came during the speech of Dr Yasmin Fouad, the Minister of Environment, at the ceremony of the accreditation and inauguration of the services of the Scientific Advisory Office for Chemical Warfare Management.
The event was attended by Major General A. H brass Medhat, Major General A. H. Khaled Shawqi, Assistant Minister of Défense, and Mr Dr Major General A. H. Abdul Hamid Syed Ahmed, Director of Chemical War, Dr Ali Abu Sunnah, President of Environmental Affairs, and Dr Tariq Al Arabi, Head of Waste Management Organization, at the house of Chemical War Officers, said sources.
During her speech, the Minister of Environment expressed thanks and appreciation to the Assistant Minister of Defense, Mr Dr Major General A. H. Abdul Hamid Syed Ahmed, the Director of Chemical War, and the Heads of Universities and Research Centres, Representatives of Ministries and National Bodies, Experts and Consultants in the field of environment and different development spheres.
She further expressed honour to be in the management of Chemical War and crowning this certificate to the Scientific Advisory Office for Chemical War Management and assuring that today’s event is the product of leadership support.
Politics under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the first president of the Republic in 2018, has put the environment file on the agenda of the Egyptian state priorities in his presence in the first UN conference on the biodiversity file to be held in Egypt, working on the Egyptian lakes file to restore it as before, and working on building partnership and taking responsibility between different state entities.
Yasmin Fouad followed that there were three goals formulated during 2019 with the support and accreditation of the President and working together with the Chemical Warfare Administration and all universities and research centres to reach here today after four years by reducing Cairo’s air pollution by 25% where pollution was expected to be reduced by only 5%.
In addition, it reached the percentage of the strategic national program for integrated municipal solid waste management, where waste was buried in 2018 at 80% in the absence of clear infrastructure.
It also referred to the assignments of the President of the Republic to work on building infrastructure and creation of cemeteries, recycling plants and intermediary stations for promotion.
In the waste system, the cooperation in this file with the Arab Authority for Manufacturing, the Ministry of Military Production, and the management of the chemical war with environmental scanning.
The Minister of the Environment mentioned the cooperation with the Armed Forces and the Administration of Chemical War during 2019 in solving the problem of a number of random pranks open around Cairo and closing these random pranks, explaining that the biggest example of this prank is the city of Salam which has been reconstructed again and disposing of waste with modern technology and with participation from the private sector.
The Minister of the Environment confirmed the continuation of cooperation with the Chemical War Administration in reducing pollution, including disposal of hazardous materials and waste in all Egyptian ports at the level of the Republic in a safe and scientific way, noting that this was done in a record time of 4 months so that the Egyptian state does not face any environmental problems, and also benefit Hazardous materials and wastes in some industries, is a simple example of the partnership between different parties and how health damages are minimized.
It was also said that the Minister of Environment pointed out the cooperation done in Sharm El-Sheikh before the summit of the Climate Conference COP27 by the Department of Chemical Warfare and the cooperation within nine months in addressing and ending environmental problems in Sharm el-Sheikh city.
This goal can be achieved in the light of the implementation of the climate conference slogan “Together to Implement”, and Sharm El-El-Sheikh city is the best example. Therefore, the vision of the participants of Sharm El-Sheikh city on the ground is a green city free of environmental problems, eliminating all types of pollution.
Moreover, accessing the ratio and global conditions, which are also in the Law of Environment, as well as cooperating to solve the problems of a mustard region in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Oil and Chemical War Management to counter emissions and develop a plan to improve the situation For these facilities which are being implemented at the moment.
The Minister emphasized that the opening of this global advisory office is the biggest evidence of the possibility of working together to reach Egypt to safety and building a generation that is able to take responsibility and knows that the environment represents his life and health, animal and plant health and the health of the only planet that exists and we live on.
Yasmin Fouad concluded her speech by thanking the leaders of the Armed Forces, the Chemical Warfare Administration and the Commander-in-Chief for their support of this file, as well as senior professors of experts, university presidents, researchers and every young man and woman who are working to leave an imprint for generations to come to provide a stable, safe, healthy environment for all.
This has been presented by Dr Major General A. H. Abdul Hamid Syed Ahmed, Director of Chemical Warfare, the shield of the Chemical War Administration for Dr Yasmin Fouad, in honour of her and in appreciation of her efforts in protecting the environment and the achievements of the Ministry in the areas of improving the environmental situation and the sustainable development of the country.
During the ceremony, Dr Ali Abu Sunnah, CEO of Environmental Affairs, handed over the certificate of accreditation to the advisory office of Dr Major A. H. Abdul Hamid Syed Ahmed, Director of Chemical War, presented a recorded film to the Scientific Advisory Office, and a dialogue session to explain the activities of the Scientific Consultative Office for Chemical War Management.
The Minister of the Environment and participants inspected a side-lines exhibition for chemical and radiation analysis devices and environmental protection missions of all types of water, soil and air pollution.
