Roosevelt Skerrit met President Vucic on official visit to Serbia

Dominica: Roosevelt Skerrit, the active Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, met with Aleksandar Vucic, the serving President of Serbia, with the delegation on Thursday, 18 April, during an official visit to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

President Aleksandar Vucic welcomed Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit during his official visit to the country under the protocol. Both the leaders of their respective nations met as per the planned schedules and had a discussion on some important issues and the diplomatic relationship between Dominica and Serbia.

As per the reports, the main focus points of the discussion between the heads of the two states remained the bilateral relations to work in the fields of mutual interests, geopolitical collaborations, regional and international affairs, and economic cooperation.

The leaders of both countries after the discussions came out to the media and expressed the plans for the future of the relationship between Dominica and Serbia. The heads of the respective nations mentioned about their approach to collaboration and cooperation in the multiple fields of mutual interests.

President Aleksandar Vucic said on the future relations of both nations in his statement, “We both nations will continue to develop overall cooperation in all the areas of mutual interest. It will be both with the Commonwealth of Dominica and within regional organisations in the Western hemisphere in which Serbia has observer status.”

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also shared information about the relevant conversation of him with President Vucic in Belgrade with the people of Dominica during the visit. He mentioned that the leader of Serbia also shared an invitation to him for the Commonwealth of Dominica to be a part of EXPO 2027.

The gratitude shown by the Serbian president while expressing gratefulness for the support of Dominica as a nation in the successful bid of Serbia to gain the hosting responsibility of the prestigious event.

During his visit to Serbia, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also met with Ana Brnabic, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. The official visit was made by the PM of Dominica straight after he attended the Our Oceans Conference which took place in Athens, the capital of Greece.

At the Our Oceans Conference Roosevelt Skerrit also met with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco where both discussed and agreed on the mutual efforts towards the conservation of nature. The Conference ended on Wednesday, 17 April, after which he left for the scheduled meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic.
