St. Kitts and Nevis Government extended a warm welcome to the national players who competed for the Leeward Islands U-19 Women’s team that took part in the recently concluded West Indies Rising Stars Women’s U-19 Championship.
The welcome was extended through the Ministry of Sports. The Leeward Islands Team featured several players from St. Kitts and Nevis, who came as second in championship tournament. The cricket team was captained by exceptional national athlete Jahzara Claxton.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis – Dr. Terrance Drew congratulated the U-19 cricket team for their outstanding performance in the CWI Rising Stars Under-19 Women’s T20 Championship.
While extending the wishes PM Drew said that he especially wants to congratulate the members of the team from St. Kitts and Nevis – Jada Collis, Aliyah Weekes, Kayzg Boyles, Jcazenique Hodge, Zara Skerritt, Gabrielle Harrylall and the Captain – Jahzara Claxton, who was also honoured as the MVP of the Tournament.
Dr. Drew further said that, he earlier appointed Jahzara as the Youth Board Member on the Violence as a Public Health Perspective Committee. He expressed that she is a shining example to her peers.
He further added to his words, and said that he must also commend Sharlene Martin and Percy Daniel who served as Team Manager and Assistant Coach, and both of them are from Federation.
He again extended good wishes by saying, Congratulations once again to the entire team, and expressed that they continue to support their efforts.
Besides, Prime Minister Drew, Minister of Sports – Samal Duggins also extended his wishes to the U-19 team and led the welcome reception at the RLB International Airport for the National Players. Duggins was conjoined by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports – Valencia Syder and officials from the St. Kitts Cricket Association.
Following this, many citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis also praised and extended their wishes to the team, and filled the comment section with the positive responses and congratulating the team for their great efforts.
