St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew held a productive meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia – Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, on September 22, 2024. The meeting was observed at the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York.
Reportedly, the talks focused on the outcomes of the CARICOM-Saudi Summit, which was held in October 2023, with an aim to deepen the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the twin islands St. Kitts and Nevis and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The leaders explored the avenues for joint action in order to advance sustainability and enhance resilience in response to global challenges. The discussions reflect commitment by both the nations to reinforce diplomatic ties and strengthen the collaboration across various sectors.
Considering this, PM Drew said that they had productive bilateral discussions with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah
Dr. Drew mentioned that the conversation was focused on deepening the relations, enhancing the cooperation across various sectors and making advance plans to establish an Embassy and Consulate in the Kingdom.
Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis said that the establishment of the Embassy and Consulate will enhance the cooperation in a range of areas, including trade, tourism and development, by providing direct support to the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis in the region.
The initiative underscores the ongoing efforts of the nation to expand its global diplomatic presence and foster deeper partnerships in the Middle East. PM Drew also emphasised upon the strategic importance of the decision as part of the broader commitment to bolster international relations with key global partners.
Notably, the discussions revisited the outcomes of the CARICOM-Saudi Summit which was held in October 2023 and explored avenues for future collaboration, especially in advancing sustainability and resilience initiatives.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew said that the opening of the Embassy and Consulate in Saudi Arabia will represent a milestone in diplomatic and economic strategy of St. Kitts and Nevis, by opening new channels for engagement and cooperation in the region.
Prime Minister Drew was accompanied by the Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs – Dr. Denzil Douglas. Permanent Representative to the United Nations of St. Kitts and Nevis – Dr. Mutryce Williams and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office – Naeemah Hazelle was also present during the discussion.
