Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit acknowledged the teachers of the nation and appreciated them for their hard work. He expressed his gratitude for their care and knowledge they have shared.
PM Skerrit shares a note on his official social media handle in which he congratulated the teachers and said Happy Teachers’ Appreciation Day. He added that they celebrate for teachers’ patience, care and steadfast commitment to nurturing the nation’s children.
Adding up to the wishes, Prime Minister congratulated the teachers, continuous success and God’s richest blessings.
To commemorate the occasion Dominica will conduct several activities, in which they are acknowledging the teachers. A week, full of activities has been scheduled to celebrate it.
Following this, on October 04, 2024, ‘World Teachers’ Rally’ is being conducted in Dublanc, which was entirely planned by the teachers collectively. It is organised to recognise the retired educators. The rally will also include sports meet, fun activities and socialization.
The celebrations will continue tomorrow also. On October 05, 2024, ‘World Teachers’ Day’ will be observed. The week will begin with a prominent message by President of Dominica – Sylvanie Burton, which will be aired on radio and television.
Earlier, the church services were observed, from September 28 and 29 at different churches around the island where the officials recognised the members at various levels of education, under the theme ‘Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.’
President of Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) – Mervin Alexander addressed people over radio on pertinent matters to World Teacher’s Day and the general welfare of educators in Dominica, on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Furthermore, President Alexander along with PR Officer of DAT on October 01, 2024 attended DBS Radio’s Talking Point program as guest.
Considering the occasion, the teachers held a social media hype day on the following day, where students, parents and well-wishers highlighted their teachers by posting TikToks, Facebook posts, WhatsApp messages, pictures, poems and write-ups over social media.
