St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited the newly renovated lobby at the Joseph N. France General Hospital, which has been symbolically handed over to the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Reportedly, it is a renovation project which was conceptualised as a part of The Cable’s community outreach initiative for its 40th anniversary celebrations, last year. This included the introduction of a brighter and more welcoming colour scheme, along with the improved lighting, installation of larger television sets, addition of new signage and improved landscaping.
During the symbolic hand-over ceremony, Prime Minister and Minister of Health – Dr. Terrance Drew thanked The Cable, TDC Group of Companies and the other private sector entities that collaborated on the renovation project.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Cable – Patricia Walters mentioned the foyer renovation project and said that it was conceptualised as part of the community outreach initiative of the company for its 40th anniversary celebrations, in 2023.
CEO Walters said that many of them at one point or another would have a reason to pass through the lobby on their way to visit someone in the hospital or sit and wait for the services. So they want to create a pleasant waiting atmosphere. Whether the visitors are passing through it, would lift the spirits and will add to the pleasant experience.
PM Drew recorded his deep appreciation to The Cable, the TDC Group of Companies and all the stakeholders who were in association with this worthwhile project. He added that the transformation of the JNF Lobby was a part of the broader approach of the government to enhance the infrastructure and improve the medical services at the facility.
Dr. Drew added that there were significant issues of leakages at his institution. They have invested heavily to address it. He want to thank the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for partnering with them on the journey to stop the leaking at JNF General Hospital.
He added further that here at the JNF they have one of the highest specialists per capita available in the entire OECS and they dare to say the whole of CARICOM and this means that JNF is advancing.
Prime Minister Drew mentioned that they are on a journey to re-establish St. Kitts and Nevis healthcare system as a premier health system in the Caribbean region, that they are achieving much in a short span of time.
Notably, the JNF Foyer renovation work included the introduction of a brighter colour scheme with improved lighting, adding up the new amenities such as a canteen, along with the installation of larger television sets, polished and revamped flooring, addition of new signage and improved landscaping.
