Residents across the UAE can expect fair to partly cloudy skies on Thursday, October 2, according to the latest weather forecast from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). While much of the day is predicted to remain clear, conditions are likely to shift by nightfall as humidity rises over several coastal and inland areas.
The NCM has issued a yellow alert for fog, specifically warning of reduced visibility along the coastal stretch from Abu Dhabi city through Ras Al Khaimah. Motorists have been urged to exercise extreme caution and adhere to road safety regulations, particularly during early morning and late-night hours when fog density is expected to peak.
Authorities have also advised drivers to rely on electronic signboards for live traffic updates and visibility warnings.
Wind conditions will remain light to moderate, blowing northwesterly to northeasterly at speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/hr. Gusts may freshen during the day, reaching up to 35 km/hr in some areas.
These winds, while not particularly severe, may contribute to shifting sand in open areas and affect marine conditions.
The Arabian Gulf will experience moderate sea states, becoming rough at times westward during the daytime, while the Oman Sea will remain slight. Fishermen and seafarers have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary risks in offshore areas during peak hours of rough conditions.
Temperatures will fluctuate significantly across the country, dipping to as low as 23ºC in cooler inland regions and climbing to a sweltering 42ºC in the hotter desert zones. In Dubai, highs are expected to reach 37ºC with lows of 28ºC, while Sharjah will see similar conditions with highs of 37ºC and lows of 27ºC.
Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, will record slightly higher figures, with daytime temperatures peaking at 38ºC before cooling to 29ºC overnight.
As the country transitions into October, forecasters note that such fluctuations between hot daytime conditions and cooler nights are typical for the season. The added humidity, however, makes conditions particularly challenging for residents, especially those commuting or working outdoors.
Authorities continue to remind the public to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during midday hours, and plan travel carefully when fog is expected. Parents are also urged to take extra precautions when school buses are operating during low-visibility conditions.
The NCM emphasized the importance of staying updated through its official channels and urged residents to monitor safety advisories throughout the day. With the weather playing a key role in daily life across the Emirates, these forecasts are critical for ensuring both safety and preparedness.
As the country moves deeper into autumn, experts suggest residents can look forward to gradually more moderate conditions in the coming weeks, though humidity and fog are expected to remain recurring challenges during early mornings and late evenings.
