According to the Activist and the university professor who also attended the protest in Kuwait City’s Erada Square, in facade of the Parliament building ‘Ibtihal al-Khatib’, “This is not about sports; however, that is also an important part.’
She added that “The essential fact is that if we give in, we will see much more relapse.”
Unlike most Gulf countries, Kuwait is famous for having an active political scene, with parliament members regularly challenging ruling administrations.
Women in the square held placards denouncing the “exploitation of women’s issues” by parliament and government and reducing the “regime of fatwas” (religious edicts) and “custody of women.”
According to the right activist ‘Hadeel Buqrais,’ “What we want the government and MPs to understand is that we do not bear the exploitation of women’s issues and their freedoms for the settlement of political scores,”
