The United Nations called the Israeli administration in order to provide the stop to the expulsion of Palestinians from their homes in the occupied West Bank.
According to ‘Stephane Dujarric’, the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stated that the representatives of the United Nations met with the Palestinian family ordered by the Israeli government to evacuate their home for 70 years in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem.
Dujarric stated that we are reviewing the situation closely in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah and locating the possibility of evicting Palestinians from their homes.
“We are following up closely the situation in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah and the possibility of evicting Palestinians from their homes,” Dujarric said, Anadolu reported.
Furthermore, they stated that it is important to vanish the tensions between the two sides and maintain self-control and tranquillity. We are in regular touch with the Israeli authorities so that they put an end to the policy of destroying Palestinian homes and stip evicting Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah and anywhere in the West Bank.
One Palestinian family are facing disruption. In that family, there are six children and an older woman, is belong to one of 218 Palestinian families, including 970 individuals, who live in the neighbourhoods of East Jerusalem, including Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan.
As per the UN spokesperson, in the international humanitarian law, in which anyone cannot forcefully deport any person or any family until or unless there is any strong motive behind doing that.
Dujarric called on the Israeli authorities to “adopt the necessary steps to protect civilians, including Palestinian refugees.”
Since Thursday, Israeli forces have closed the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood with iron barriers and dispersed dozens of Palestinians taking part in rallies to protest the setting up by right-wing Israeli lawmaker Ben Gvir on private Palestinian land in the neighbourhood as his office.
Sheikh Jarrah of Palestinian has complained of repeated attacks by the Israeli settlers, who are staying in their following homes taken from Palestinians over past years.
In 2021, tension among the neighbourhood ran high when the government of Israel ordered the eviction order of several Palestinian families in favour of Israeli settlers.
