Cairo: The government of Kuwait is planning to impose a fine of up to KDS5,000 on those who made a film of the funerals in cemeteries. This information was come out by municipal officials.
According to the head of funerals department at the Kuwait Municipality Faisal AL Awwadi’, “we recently notice that a large number of persons came in the graveyard and started making videos of the funerals of politicians, athletes and famous artists, in a way that creates anger in relatives and their family members, as well as mourners and triggered criticism for not showing respect for the dead and the tombs.”
These kinds of acts are considered as an exploitation of the graveyard. “Making movies of the dead people violates their family privacy and that person’s privacy too. Filming and taking photos of the funeral and pre-burial prayer has become as if it were a media scoop for some people.”
He further stated that the director-general of Kuwait Municipality had issued a formal administrative circular in which he formally requested that legal action should be taken in order to stop filming and photography in graveyards.
The official mentioned restrictions for fines ranging from KD2,000 to 5,000 against violators.
