Kabul, Afghanistan: According to the US special representative for Human Rights and Afghan women and Girls ‘Rina Amiri’ the reopening of the schools for the girl who are studying above the sixth grade in the Taliban might lead to conflict within the Taliban leadership, and the local sources report it.
During an interview, Amiri made her claims that within the Taliban, there is a group that is pro-freedom for people, particularly the freedom of work and Education for women and the reopening of schools for girls.
A media outlet quoted Amiri as saying, “while there is another group of Taliban that visits Afghanistan as it is in their mind not as it really is. They see Afghanistan in line with their rigid understanding of Islam countries.”
However, the Education Ministry of Taliban denied their dispute with the government of Taliban over the girl education, saying that the final decision related to the school reopening above the grade sixth would be made by the ministry or leadership.
The representative of the US also warned that the Taliban would not see a reduction in sanctions or obtain recognition without meeting the conditions globally.
Furthermore, they stated that there is no possibility that they are going to ease the restrictions when the Taliban is clearly violating the terms that have been set forth and for the Taliban themselves.
The government of the Taliban were scheduled to reopen across Afghanistan after months of closure, but the ministry of Education announced in the evening that secondary schools and high schools for girls would remain closed until further notice. Then the decision of the ministry of government met with strong domestic and international reactions.
The Taliban government that took power last year has shrunk women’s and girls’ rights and freedom, with women largely banned from the workforce due to their financial situation and restrictions.
