Egypt: Senior officials in Egypt intervened in the current burning crisis between Al-Ahly President Mahmoud Al-Khatib and Zamalek President Mortada Mansour in an attempt to resolve it and calm the atmosphere between them.

Kamel Al-Wazir, the Egyptian Minister of Transport and Communications, confirmed that there are efforts for reconciliation between Al-Khatib and Mortada Mansour, noting that he and some senior politicians were asked to intervene and solve the crisis between the two.

The minister said during a telephonic interview:

“I and some other politicians were asked to solve the current problems between Al-Khatib and Mortada Mansour. There are instructions that the dispute between the two parties should be resolved in order to maintain stability, and in the end, we are all Egyptians and brothers.”

And he continued: “Indeed, I spoke with Jamal Al-Jarhi (a businessman known for his affiliation with Al-Ahly) and asked him to intervene to calm the atmosphere.”

And about the scenes of the video that spread recently, regarding his talk about Al-Ahly, the Minister of Transport said that he does not differentiate between Al-Ahly, Al-Zamalkawi and Al-Ismailawi, adding that the video was taken out of context by the people of evil, although it was a talk behind the cameras, it was cut out for publication in this image, although it was in the context humour.

Kamel Al-Wazir said: “I am the minister of all Egyptians, Al-Ahly is like Zamalek to me, and I respect Al-Ahly and its fans on my head. I have not insulted Al-Ahly, and I will not be smart if I do that.”

And he added: “I encourage Al-Sikka Al-Hadid Club, and before that, I used to encourage my country’s team, Mansoura, and everyone who represents Egypt we encourage, whether my family, Zamalek, Pyramids or Ismaili, and there is no fanaticism, and we hope that Al-Ahly will come out of its repression, and the Ismaili will return to its strength.”

He continued: “I stand behind Al-Ahly in all its African confrontations, and I reject fanaticism in football, and I refuse to offend the other party because of football. Al-Ahly did not win the league championship, but it achieved many previous championships while it was in the slump of a horse, and it will achieve many championships soon.”

He concluded: “I have a good relationship with some of Al-Ahly’s stars, such as Taher Abu Zeid, Magdy Abdel-Ghani, and Mustafa Younis.”

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Economic Misdemeanors Court of Appeal, headed by Counselor Adham Fahim, decided this August to imprison Mortada Mansour Shahr and fine him 10,000 pounds in Case No.
