Cairo: According to the Saudi Federation of Chambers, the workers who belong to Thailand are expected to resume work in Saudi Arabia within three months, as ties between the two countries have recently improved after years of strain.

According to a federation official, around 200,000 such workers will be hired annually in the Kingdom.

The announcement came from the side of the Thai Ministry of Labour; they announced that the Thai workers would return back to the Kingdom within three months, deputy head of the federation Tareq Al Haidari.

Furthermore, he added that they confirmed their willingness to supply up to 200,000 workers to the Saudi market each year.

Topping the list of employment in Thailand, the official singled out the health and hospitality sectors.

Saudi Arabia lifted a travel ban on its citizens visiting Thailand earlier this month, as the two countries’ ties strengthened following the restoration of full diplomatic relations earlier this year.

The Saudi General Directorate of Passports has stated that Saudis and Thais are allowed to enter both countries.

In January, Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, and Thailand agreed to restore diplomatic ties between the two countries fully and to exchange ambassadors in around 32 years.

The decision was reached during Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-historic cha’s official visit to Riyadh, where he met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Saudi national carrier, Saudia, also relaunched its flights between the Kingdom and Thailand, carrying Thai Muslims to perform Umrah or lesser pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
