Saudi Arabia: The Saudi Ministry of Commerce declared a commercial establishment specialized in the trade of tobacco products after a court ruling was issued proving that the establishment and its owner violated the anti-commercial fraud system and the trademark system following the possession, display and sale of counterfeit and fraudulent tobacco products.
And the judicial control officers at the Ministry were able to seize five packages ( honeydew ) with a total size of 25 kilos bearing a counterfeit trademark inside the facility’s headquarters.
The Ministry published the judicial ruling issued by the Criminal Court in Riyadh, which includes imposing a fine of 300,000 riyals, closing the violating facility for a period of six months, confiscating and destroying the seized quantities, and publishing the ruling in two newspapers at the expense of the violators.
The Ministry of Commerce confirmed the continuation of the seizure of violators of commercial regulations and the completion of the application of legal procedures against them, given the consequences of fraud and deception of consumers, as the anti-commercial fraud system provides for penalties of up to three years in prison, fines of up to one million riyals, or both, and a penalty of up to three years in prison.
Defamation and deportation of violating workers prevent them from returning to work.
The Ministry urged all consumers to report the violating headquarters and establishments through the application of a “commercial notification”, or through the communications centre on the number 1900.
